Yes, she did.
The next day when she attended the alumni AGM, she was nominated and appointed as President. Ask me honestly, there is no wanting or not wanting of the position. I always remember my teacher's question to me whenever I am in such a meeting of position elections - "what would God do?"
Anyway, we had our first meeting with the newly appointed Exco and other members and it went amazing great. Most people were on time and there was much discussed. Meeting ended on the dot without much time wasting and everyone seemed willing and enthusiastic to get the whole society running.
The Advisor, Bee Lian who has been tirelessly serving the Exco is somewhat relief in a sense that for the first time she saw more people more interested in what is going on in the society. She has been breastfeeding the Exco for so long that she ends up doing most things; and she is not even a student of the school, but a parents of two ex-students. At least now she knows she is not alone, and I know, as a President that I am not alone as I trust that I have viable and supportive members to work together.
So, if you are an ex-Sri KLian, or know of anyone who is - PUHLEASE, come join us ok! It's fun leh!

The Beloved Poodle
Had a perm today and thought I looked like a poodle. Told the hairdresser that if my hair doesn't straighten out in bigger curls which he promised it would, I'd go back to the salon to strangle him.
When I came home with the intention to surprise Thea, she surprised me back in return by coming forth, hugging me and saying, "Mommi, I love you even though your hair looks like that." All of us in the room burst out into laughters!!
It was obvious that she preferred her mommi to have long straight hair, but it was nice to know that no matter how her mommi looks like, she still loves her mommi. :)
Actually, come to think about it, what's wrong with looking like a poodle? I like it!! :D

Playing in the Rain
It was about to rain, somehow I went ahead to the night market anyway. One week away meant that there wasn't much vegetables, fish and fruits left.
While there was an intent to rush, there was too an intent to savour the moment. It was quite awesome when I decided to just slow down my pace instead of walking faster to the car. It was splendid.
By the time I got to the car where Thea and guardian angel was waiting for me, Thea laughed and said, "mommi, you are all wet!!" and I laughed and said, "yes I am! and it is fun!!" and invited to join in under the rain. She shook her head and said no... and guardian angel laughed and supported, "it is fun, you know..."
It is funny how kids these days don't get to enjoy the kind of things that the kids in the older days used to enjoy. Well, not to say I played in the rain alot when I was young as mom would be screaming, "get in the house otherwise you'd get sick!" and that was exactly what Thea said too, "I'd get sick playing in the rain". What a thought!
But it is fun, isn't it? Playing in the rain, I mean. :)

Took back a little
Yes, I am finally home. Home since Saturday morning, but seemed to have left my heart in Istanbul. It is such a beautiful, beautiful country. And yes, whilst I have been there before years back... but that didn't count because most of the time I was stuck in the hotel room and only eating cheap kebabs for lunch and dinner (breakfast was provided).
This time, out of intuition, I went alone. Although I would have very much loved company, but yet was not taken aback that I was alone. Had to admit that there was some discomfort - being all alone in a foreign country, not knowing their language and all.. but what the heck, if not now, when??
And it turned out that all my plans were screwed up. The places which I planned to go, I did not and ended up in places where I did not even consider going in the first place. Thanks to my Turkish friend, Ilkay who took 2 days to show me some other parts of Istanbul and also another new Turkish friend I met, who happens to be the hotel receptionist of the cozy hotel I happened to intuitively pick, I enjoyed a lot more of Istanbul compared to the first time I visited this place years back.
Food was awesome and my favourites were the tomatos and fish. Their fish is just awesomelly naturally sweet! I tried out food, turkish bath, watched the sufi dance and turkish dance... it was all magical. Weather was good and people were a mix! Thank goodness for my new friend who showed me a taste of the original turk as he calls himself, my perception of turkish people expanded.
I fell in love with Istanbul, and strongly recommend that women, to at least experience travelling alone once in their life time. Something shifts and expands. Of course, it is not necessary to choose Istanbul as a destination. It was just my choice and will also be amongst my future choices.
Mom was telling me how I can bring her there in future. I am elated by that thought! And I was telling darling how she has to come with me too as I know she will surely enjoy such an adventure...
Ah well, I am home. Thea seems to have grown up a little more, probably reflecting my own growth coming back from afar. :) And I am happy to be home with my precious little gem.
